Technical Support - Bedford - £30k pa

Skills / Attributes Required

  • Good understanding of security issues surrounding applications.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude for communicating complex technical issues to both peers and non-technical staff.
  • Good analytical skills and an ability to define and articulate the precise nature of any given situation appropriately to the target audience whether technical or non technical
  • A good understanding of IT infrastructures (servers, desktops, networks, databases and operating systems)
  • Experience of and sql server
  • Experience of building and maintaining applications in a multiplatform environment (Windows Server and/or Unix/Linux environments).
  • Use of Open source products to help maintain systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft client operating systems emphasis on Windows XP/VISTA/7.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft server operating systems emphasis on Server 2003/2008.
  • Experience with using and troubleshooting Office 2003/2007 within a network environment
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Application systems - experience of recording and solving application support issues from customers, prioritising requests, implementing and communicating timely solutions, both in database and web environments.
  • Knowledge of network system protocols, IP addressing and TCP/IP networking topologies.
  • Knowledge of capabilities, utilization, and limitations of data processing equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of network management practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work on multiple issues.
  • Strong time management responsibility and project management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Good understanding of XML message based systems
  • Experience of all Microsoft operating systems
  • IIS with (Bespoke Application Support)
  • MS diagnostic/ troubleshooting tools
  • TCP\IP knowledge and database (SQL Server and Oracle)
